The Indian government is considering banning the export of four rare metals - lithium, beryllium, niobium and tantalum - with the aim of guaranteeing the country's self-sufficiency in important mineral resources. "The government plans to ban the export of rare metals such as lithium, beryllium, niobium and tantalum as they play an important role in the energy sector as well as in safeguarding national security and technological achievements," said a senior Indian government official.
