Wolframite and scheelite are both types of tungsten ore, and both can be used to produce ammonium para tungstate (APT), but because of their different crystal structures and impurities, the processes used to produce APT are also different: wolframite APT is mainly prepared by high-pressure alkali cooking ion exchange-evaporation crystallization method, and scheelite concentrate is mainly prepared by soda pressure cooking solvent extraction-evaporation crystallization method. What is the difference between wolframite and scheelite? The company briefly introduces the following points:
|
|
1. Different names: wolframite, also known as wolframite, is Wolframite in English; scheelite is Scheelite in English.
2. Different chemical compositions: wolframite is mainly composed of tungstenite (FeWO4) and wolframite (MnWO4), of which wolframite contains 23.65% FeO and 76.35% WO3, wolframite contains 23.42% MnO and 76.58% of WO3; the main component of scheelite is calcium tungstate (CaWO4), which ideally contains 19.47% of CaO and 80.53% of WO3.
3. Different structures: wolframite has two types: monoclinic crystal system and orthorhombic column crystal system, the crystal form is plate-like or column-like, and the aggregate is mostly plate-like; Aggregates are mostly irregular granular, less dense blocks.
4. Different colors: wolframite color becomes darker with the increase of iron content, generally from brown to black; scheelite is generally gray, light yellow, light purple, or light brown.
5. Different luster: wolframite has metallic luster or semi-metal luster; scheelite has vitreous luster or diamond luster.
6. Different transparency: wolframite is not clear; scheelite is transparent to translucent.
7. Different streaks: wolframite streaks are lighter in color, tungsten manganese ore is yellow-brown-yellow, tungsten iron ore is dark brown-color; scheelite streaks are yellow-green.
The eight types of mineralization are different: wolframite has gristite type, quartz vein type, porphyry type, and other mineralization types; scheelite is usually produced in contact metasomatic skarn, high-temperature hydrothermal veins, and granitic rock.
9. Different origins: Southern Jiangxi, eastern Hunan, and northern Guangdong are the main producing areas of wolframite, while Russia, Siberia, Myanmar, Thailand, Australia, Bolivia, and other places also have this ore; Hunan Yaogangxian is scheelite. It is the main producing area of ore, and the ore is also found in Shantang in southern North Korea, Saxony in Germany, New South Wales in Australia, northern Bolivia, and Nevada in the United States.
