Three Arrows- To Promote Non-ferrous Metal Industry Steady Growth

The recently issued "Work Programme for Stable Growth of Non-ferrous Metals Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Programme") puts forward that from 2023 to 2024, the main objectives of stable growth of the non-ferrous metals industry are as follows: the output of copper, aluminium and other major products to maintain a steady growth, the output of ten types of non-ferrous metals to grow at an average annual rate of about 5%, the development of domestic resources, such as copper and lithium, to make positive progress, and the quality of non-ferrous metals deep-processed products supply to be further improved. Supply and demand basically achieved dynamic balance. Operating income maintained growth, investment in fixed assets continued to grow, trade structure continued to optimise, greening and intelligent transformation and upgrading accelerated, copper, lead and other smelting products unit energy consumption fell by more than 2% per annum.

In recent years, the non-ferrous metal industry has shown a sustained positive development trend, but in the process of development, there are still problems such as insufficient growth momentum in traditional consumption areas, reduced exports, and high dependence on foreign countries for some strategic minerals as well as high-end materials. The non-ferrous metal industry will put stable growth in a more prominent position, in improving supply capacity, strengthening technological transformation, enhance the level of openness on the "three arrows".
