Description of C-103 alloys
C103 is the most widely used superalloy in the aviation industry. For instance, the rocket nozzles on the lunar module and command module of the Apollo spacecraft were constructed of the C-103 alloy (Nb-10Hf-1Ti-0.7Zr).
The combustion products flow through the nozzle at a high velocity (maximum Mach 4.58) and at wall temperatures of 1500 degrees Celsius.

The most popular alloy in the US is C103 Niobium Alloy Plate (Nb-10Hf-1Ti-0.5Zr). A temperature range of 1200 to 1400 degrees Celsius is appropriate for operation. It falls under the umbrella of Niobium alloys with poor strength.
More than 90% of all niobium alloys used in the United States are medium-high strength niobium alloys with tungsten concentrations of 10%–30%. Between 77MPa at 1410 °C and 372MPa at 1315 °C, they have a high-temperature strength
