The production process of tantalum wire
Tantalum wire is processed to a diameter of 0.1~0.8mm or more by utilizing the excellent plastic processing properties of tantalum. From tantalum powder to tantalum wire, it needs to go through powder forming, sintering and rolling, annealing, drawing, cleaning, and straightening, and each process needs to be studied and analyzed. Strengthening the control of each process is necessary to produce high-performance tantalum wire, thereby meeting the requirements of high reliability tantalum capacitor anode leads. Excessive content, uneven structure, and defects in raw tantalum powder can cause wire breakage or serious surface problems during the drawing process.
Performance and Application of Tantalum Wire
In addition to its excellent properties such as high melting point, good ductility, high thermal conductivity, low vapor pressure, good chemical stability, and strong corrosion resistance, tantalum also has the most important property of forming a dense, stable, and high dielectric constant amorphous oxide film on its surface after anodizing treatment. Capacitors made of tantalum powder and tantalum wire have high reliability and can work normally under harsh conditions, which cannot be compared to other capacitors. Therefore, tantalum capacitors have been widely used in communication equipment, computers, automotive electronics, digital cameras and other fields.
Factors affecting the production process of tantalum wire
a. Impurities in tantalum powder have a significant impact on the processing of tantalum wire. Excessive content of tantalum powder inclusions, uneven structure, and defects in the raw material can cause wire breakage and serious surface problems during the tantalum wire drawing process. Especially when the oxygen content is too high, it can cause cracking during tantalum rod rolling, so the oxygen mass fraction is generally controlled below 0.18%.
b. When the mold structure area during tantalum wire drawing does not meet the requirements, it can cause peeling, grooves, and scratches on the surface of the tantalum wire, or leave too much residual oil on the surface of the tantalum wire, resulting in incomplete cleaning.
c.When pulling tantalum wire, attention should be paid to tension control to prevent the wire from curling when the tension is too high, and from loosening when the tension is too low. Ensure the use of wire guide wheels and wire drawing machines to avoid scratching tantalum wires.
d.During the tantalum wire processing, the cleaning process uses ultrasonic waves+biodegradable cleaning solution, ultrasonic waves+pure water rinsing, and pure water spraying. The dilution ratio of the cleaning solution is selected as 1:40.
