Which is more corrosion resistant, Tantalum or Hastelloy?

1)Tantalum is a steel-gray nonferrous metal. It is called "noble metal" because of its many unique properties. It is also known as the all-rounder of the "metal kingdom" because of its wide range of applications.

2)Tantalum metal has good chemical stability to acids, alkalis, salts and organic media, second only to platinum and gold. Except for fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, acidic solutions containing fluoride ions, fuming nitric acid and sulfuric acid, tantalum will not be corroded in most media;

3)High high temperature strength, low thermal expansion coefficient, good conductivity, weldability and extremely high corrosion resistance;

It has excellent low temperature plasticity and can be machined at room temperature;

4)Because of these physical and chemical properties of tantalum, tantalum is widely used in the fields of electronics industry, military weapons, aerospace, shipbuilding and marine engineering, petrochemical industry and biomedicine.

The main component of Hastelloy alloy is Ni-Mo, with a melting point of 1325~1370 ℃. It has high corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing inorganic and organic acids; it is stable in caustic soda and alkaline solutions; and it is completely stable in organic media and seawater.

Application of Tantalum:
a. Currently, the main application of tantalum is tantalum capacitors, which are used in electronic devices such as mobile phones, DVD players, video game consoles and computers.

b.The largest application of tantalum is electronic components made of tantalum powder, mainly capacitors and high-power resistors.

c. Tantalum can be used to make various ductile alloys with high melting points. These alloys can be used as materials for superhard metal processing tools and for making high-temperature alloys for jet engines, chemical experimental equipment, nuclear reactors and missiles.

d. Tantalum can resist erosion by biological fluids and will not irritate tissues, so it is widely used to make surgical tools and implants.

e. Except for hydrofluoric acid and hot sulfuric acid, tantalum can resist corrosion from almost all acids. Therefore, tantalum can be used as a material for chemical reaction containers and corrosive liquid conduits.

f. Tantalum has a high melting point and is resistant to oxidation, so it can be used as a material for vacuum furnace components.

g. Tantalum is highly ductile and can be stretched into wires. These tantalum wires are used to vaporize various metals, such as aluminum.
