Polished Nickel Rods

Polished nickel rods is a precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium alloy with high levels of niobium, aluminium, molybdenum and titanium. This alloy is cold worked after solution annealing and is typically used for high strength fasteners requiring a small tensile strength of 220 ksis at room temperature after precipitation hardening.

I Production process

II Applications

1. Used in mechanical engineering, ceramic pigments, permanent magnetic materials, electronic remote control, etc.

2. Mainly used in the electroplating industry, nickel plated articles are beautiful, clean and not easy to rust. In the chemical industry, very fine nickel powder is frequently employed as a catalyst.

III Appearance requirements

Flat and clean surface, no electrolyte, oil, etc., consistent colour, dense bar fracture, no shrinkage, no cracks, flaking, bubbles, inclusions, ring marks and other defects!

Production equipment: vacuum induction furnace, electroslag remelting furnace, vacuum heat treatment furnace, drawing, tube threading, grinding, machining and other equipment.

Testing equipment: spectral analyzer, ultrasonic flaw detector, metallographic microscope, metal tensile testing machine, carbon and sulfur analyzer, high temperature creep and endurance strength testing machine.

 IV Finished product inspection

Each batch of polished nickel rods submitted shall be inspected for chemical composition, external dimensions, mechanical properties, internal quality and surface quality. The bars are to be submitted for acceptance in batches, each batch to be composed of products of the same grade, condition and specification.

Yusheng Metals uses high purity nickel powder to produce polished nickel rods with oxidation resistance up to 1800°F. 718 cold reduced nickel alloy is usually melted several times using vacuum induction melting (VIM) and vacuum arc remelting (VAR), or vacuum induction melting (VIM) followed by electroslag remelting (ESR). Large amounts of nickel are used to create alloys. Nickel is added to steel to improve its mechanical strength.
