Preparation of high-purity niobium plates
The research on radio frequency superconducting cavities was conducted using high-purity niobium plates. The main results are as follows:
1. It has broken through the traditional preparation process of high-purity niobium plates and formed a low-cost and easy-to-promote production technology. Originally, only a few multinational companies in the world that mastered the world's high-quality high-purity niobium ore resources could produce it. High-quality high-purity niobium ore was purified by metallurgical refining, chemical process purification, physical purification and other methods to produce high-purity niobium materials with RRR values greater than 250.
The forging method of radio frequency superconducting cavities has achieved the standardization of high-purity niobium strip procurement, which has been recognized by some domestic niobium strip manufacturers and is basically suitable for the industrial level of domestic niobium strip production. A low-cost physical purification smelting process has been developed to produce niobium ingots that meet the production requirements of high-purity niobium plates. A special free forging method is used instead of the traditional die forging blank method, which greatly reduces the equipment investment cost. Through its own technology and quality control process, high-quality and high-purity niobium plates are produced.
2. The research on the procurement technical specifications of niobium strips, the raw materials required for the preparation of high-purity niobium ingots, has been completed. In order to ensure that the final 3R value of niobium plate meets the standard, with almost no relevant reference materials, we conducted a survey on the production and supply status of high-quality niobium strips at home and abroad, and formulated technical specifications for niobium strip raw materials based on the previous production experience of smelting niobium ingots;
3. Completed the research on the smelting technology of large-scale high-purity niobium ingots. Completed the process research of purifying high-purity niobium ingots with a 500kw electron beam furnace φ220mm limit size crucible. The sample analysis results showed that the smelting process adopted was reasonable and had a significant purification effect on pure niobium raw materials;
4. Completed the mass production of δ3×700×700mm, breaking through the technical bottleneck of the previous high-purity niobium plate surface treatment, exploring the processing technology suitable for the equipment production of our institute, and providing samples for users. Completed the research on the detection method of RRR value of high-purity niobium ingots and plates
