According to ISO 10093-5, a laboratory cytotoxicity test authorized by ISO 17025 is performed on tantalum developing rings (Biological assessment of medical devices - Part 5: In vitro cytotoxicity test). The test's goal is to verify that after the tantalum spheres have been processed, treated, and cleaned/passivated by the process, no detectable amount of undesired substances (such as cleaning agents, process chemicals, or other substances) is left behind.
