Metallic Vitamins - Vanadium

Vanadium has been discovered twice. The element was first discovered in lead vanadate ore in 1801 by Jerre Riva, a professor of mineralogy in Mexico City, and sent to Paris for further study, however, French chemists deduced that it was a contaminated chrome ore. In 1830, Swedish chemist Sefström discovered vanadium again in the black residue after being dissolved by acid while studying iron ore in Småland, Sweden. Because of its colorful and beautiful compounds, it was named after the beautiful goddess "Vanadis" in Norse mythology.

Polished Vanadium Plate in Stock

Vanadium (V) is located in the fifth subgroup of the fourth period in the periodic table and belongs to the first row of transition group metals. There are 4 oxidation valence states (+2, +3, +4, +5) in nature, and it may be 0 in the core. Vanadium is one of the widely distributed trace elements on earth, mainly occurring in magnetite, phosphate rock, uranium-bearing sandstone, and siltstone deposits. Organic carbon-rich substances such as bauxite, petroleum, coal, oil shale, stone coal, and tar sands also present a relatively high content, but no independent vanadium mineral has been found so far.

Vanadium is a rare metal that is silver-gray, refractory, and volatile. It has a combination of rigidity and softness, lively and changeable valence, and bright and colorful luster. High-purity vanadium is hard, non-magnetic, and has the characteristics of good ductility, low oxidation resistance, and lightweight. When it is added to conventional metals to form alloys, it can significantly improve the plasticity, ductility, flexibility, and strength of the alloy.

Vanadium has important applications in the iron and steel industry, metallurgical chemical industry, aerospace, defense industry, medicine, pigment, glass, new energy battery, and other fields.

Vanadium is mainly used as an alloy additive in the iron and steel industry, and about 90% of the vanadium in my country is used in the iron and steel industry. The microalloying of steel by adding vanadium can not only greatly improve the strength, toughness, high-temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance of the product, but also save the consumption of steel. Compared with ordinary hot-rolled steel bars, vanadium-containing steel bars have unique advantages in continuous casting and processing. welding, etc. The use of (vanadium) microalloying to increase the strength of steel bars from 400 MPa to 500 MPa can theoretically save 15% to 20% of steel bar consumption. According to the average energy consumption and carbon emission data of my country's iron and steel industry, it can save more than 110 million tons of standard coal consumption and reduce more than 370 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year, which has a positive effect on promoting carbon peaking and carbon reduction in the iron and steel industry.

A vanadium battery (all-vanadium redox flow battery) is a device with high-efficiency energy storage and high-efficiency output. The vanadium battery energy storage system consists of positive and negative electrodes, electrolyte storage tanks, and ion exchange membrane components. The current flow is generated by the change of the valence state of vanadium ions in the electrolyte, and the cycle times can reach 5,000 to 10,000 times, which is more than 10 times that of lithium batteries. Vanadium batteries have high power, large capacity, high efficiency, long life, fast response, instant charging, high safety, and low cost, and have become one of the preferred technologies in the fields of renewable energy storage, grid peak regulation, and backup power. One is known as the "power bank".

The polished vanadium plate (high-purity vanadium plate) produced by Baoji Yusheng Metal Technology Co., Ltd. is mainly used in sputtering targets, evaporation coating, alloy addition, profile processing, and other industries. Its performance is extremely excellent and widely praised by customers. You can buy with confidence.
