Nickel Crucible

Features and precautions for use:

1. The melting point of nickel is 1455 degrees, and nickel is more resistant to alkali and erosion, so it is often used to melt iron alloy, slag, clay, refractory materials, etc.

2. The melting temperature should not exceed 700 degrees, because, at high temperatures, nickel is easy to be oxidized.

3. It can not be used for the sintering of precipitation.

4. It is suitable for melting samples of NaOH, Na2O2, Na2CO3, NaHCO3, and alkaline solvents containing KNO3, not for melting samples of KHSO4 or NaHSO4, K2S2O7 or Na2S2O7 and other acidic solvents and alkaline sulfide melts containing sulfur.

5. The molten state of Al, Zn, Pb, Sn, Hg, and other metal salts can make the nickel crucible brittle. Borax also can not melt in the nickel crucible.

6. It often contains trace chromium, should pay attention when using it.

7. The new nickel crucible should be scorched to blue-purple color in the muffle furnace to remove the oil on the surface, then boiled with 1:20HCl for a moment, and then rinsed with water. Boil the hydrochloric acid for a few moments, then wash it with distilled water and dry it for use.
