Tantalum can be made into welded and rolled tubes and has a wide range of uses. Rolled tubes are manufactured by extrusion, tube reduction, or deep drawing with sheet metal. The manufacturing method of welding is to form the plate and strip first, then make the tube shape, and then weld the seam with gas tungsten arc (GTAW).

Tantalum capillary tubes were prepared with domestic ta1 -1 tantalum powder by the above process, which proved the feasibility of the above process. Without intermediate annealing, the maximum processing rate of tantalum tubes can reach 80 -90%. The thickness-increasing rate of pipe walls can be reduced by a high pass machining rate. The final annealing has a great effect on the properties of the finished product. The plasticity of tantalum can be greatly improved by vacuum annealing at 1000 °C for 10 minutes. Through the above process, we can break through several key technologies, such as the annealing process, drawing process, and selection of special drawing equipment. Ultra-thin tantalum capillaries tubes below 0.03 mm were fabricated.

The key process is as follows: 1, heat treatment process requirements, according to the outside diameter and different thickness of the annealing temperature should be controlled at 800-1200 degrees, the holding time between 5-15 minutes, the temperature difference of each section of annealing temperature is not more than 10 degrees, the temperature range of annealing vacuum grade should be more than 10 degrees, natural cooling in a vacuum, the single elongation rate should not be more than 10%, and the total cyclic elongation should not be more than 20%.
In addition to its own difficulties, such as twist head and other process defects are easy to expose, in the air-drawing process, it is easy to produce, some new defects. The defects of tantalum capillary tubes with a diameter of 0.5-0.6 x 0.15 area are surface scratch, broken head, longitudinal and local folding and cracking, surface crinkle, surface wrinkle, and so on. With the continuous improvement of the preparation process, the defect problem has been gradually solved.
